The program was run extremely well and Mrs. Lucas and Ms. Howard were great! They provided you with all the necessary material to succeed, however it is up to the student to put in the effort and work to pass the class. A lot of material was covered in a short time so it is imperative to always do the work assigned and not get behind. Ms. Howard truly cared about her students and getting them prepared for working as a phlebotomist. Ms. Howard and Mrs. Lucas were quick to comp...liment the students and encourage them through the program. The proctors were extremely helpful as well when we were in the lab learning blood draws. They were patient and understanding and encouraged our hands on learning. I would recommend the program to anyone interested in becoming a phlebotomist. I feel well prepared and ready to enter the field of phlebotomy thanks to Mrs. Lucas and Ms. Howard!

Medright has, by far, the most comprehensive phlebotomy program in the state of Michigan!  I was looking for several weeks, and all I could find was what I'd call FLY BY NIGHT organizations.  They offered a course that lasted for a couple of weeks and cost just a few hundred dollars.
You get what you pay for!  In this program, I had 10 weeks of hands on training, plenty of lab time, and a lot of quizzes.  Why?  Because Medright wants to make sure you are employable after graduation!  The best part was the 2-week clinical rotation, in which I got to work alongside a professional phlebotomist at Beaumont Hospital.  I got real world experience on over 150 patients during this time.  It's not like the labs where you practice on volunteers.  I dealt with squeamish people, toddlers, and people with fear of needles.  This course trains you for the real world.
There are cheaper courses out there, but this one is the best if you truly want a career in health care.  Do yourself a favor and choose this one.  Chances are very good you'll get a job offer after your rotation.  I did!

My experience at MedRight was phenomenal! The program provided an idealistic blend of practical and conceptional learning, within an intimate setting that enabled personal attention to help build and solidify the skills and techniques that are required for success within the field of phlebotomy. Being in a major that requires several certifications, I can confidently say that I have never felt as prepared entering into my externship, as well as my new job as a phlebotomist, as I have after finishing MedRight’s wonderful program. Mrs. Lucas and Ms. Howard, as well as all of the proctors, genuinely want success for each of their students; they openly express their support—providing comfort and guidance when it all seems too overwhelming, as well as celebrating success. I am grateful for MedRight for preparing me for both applications in an outpatient and inpatient setting. Moreover, in addition to having a high caliber phlebotomy program, their IV skills class was equally as amazing, insightful, and highly useful. They teach in such a way that the classroom feels like a second home. I will forever be grateful for MedRight, Mrs. Lucas, Ms. Howard, and the wonderful people I was able to share the experience with, and now call my friends.

Medright, is the best Phlebotomy Program out there. It is a 10 week course plus (2 week externship). In those 12 weeks I have learned an incredible amount of information. Ms. Howard has an unbelievable amount of knowledge in this field (almost 30 years). Everything she teaches is exactly how it was in the “Real” world when I got to my externship. She mentions throughout the course, “Just give me a chance” and I did. Ms. Howard is such a dedicated instructor. Yes it was tough, and I didn’t think I could ever “stick” someone with a needle, or retain ALL this information and I have because they help you every step of the way. I can proudly say that I graduated the program at the top of my class, with a 99.5% while being a wife and a mom. When I did my 2 week externship at a St. John Lab, the staff I worked with didn’t even believe I was a student..that’s how well this program has prepared me. And there is no secret; all it takes is repetition and listening/doing EXACTLY what they tell you. Repetition. They have you do the same quizzes every class period, to help you remember the information throughout the course. There are no surprises, they give you all the information for every Homework Assignment, Quiz, Exam. The class is set up in a “routine” and that’s what helped me be successful. They even offer tutoring; they are always there for you. Mrs.Lucas (course manager) responds to your emails/calls the same day. She is even willing to meet with you in person. They are there for you every step of the way, just follow their directions. They are a great Program, you will not regret it. They even offer an IV skills class, where they teach you proper procedures for starting an IV. I signed up for this class as well. I will forever be thankful to them.

Just wanted to update you on my current situation.  Yesterday was my 2 month anniversary on location at SJSCL.  I LOVE IT!!  My Lead Laboratory Assistant is great.  We are so much alike with work ethics, how we talk/teach.  Couldn't have been a better fit.  She is a leader that tell me every single day how much she appreciates me.  She was worried when I first came there because of the zero experience.  Within 2 days, she was so happy that I was there.  She appreciates how strong I am and that I am a quick learner.  Now she makes comments like..."one day you are going to be running this place."  She already considers me a leader.
Hours are great.  Guaranteed 40 hours and so far I have had overtime on every paycheck.  Doesn't even feel like I work 40 hours.  Such a big switch from retail pharmacy.  I have done a venous draw on a 1 year old and heel stick on a 27 day old. So far, none of my patients have had to be called back for a redraw.  That makes me very happy!  I credit that to the training I received at Medright.  I believe that the SJSCL is the best place for anyone to come do their rotation as they will learn more than just drawing blood.
I love this job and am so grateful for both of you and the instruction you provided.
Thank you...from the bottom of my heart!!!

Dear Mrs. Lucas and Mrs. Howard,
I hope you both are doing well. I am emailing you regarding the Honors College. I wanted to let you know, I was ACCEPTED! I wanted to say to both of you, THANK YOU!! Together you are an amazing team and I'm proud to have both of you as teachers. I really appreciate that I could come to both of you if there was any issues and thank you for always answering my questions and rooting for me.
Mrs. Lucas, thank you for getting back with me so fast and being the go-between with myself and Ms. Howard to have the proper paperwork done. Thank you for also creating a challenging curriculum. It really helped me transition to Oakland Universities busy schedule. I know without it, I would have struggled coming back to school, but it helped me tremendously in starting college. I regained the routine of school and with that had a head start on my routine. Thank you for this wonderful experience!
Mrs. Howard, thank you for completing the Honors College paperwork and creating a class I really enjoyed attending and I learned a great deal about a field I had no knowledge of. Your hugs sure helped and you let me know that I could succeed, but I had to put in the work. It was an enjoyable experience coming back to learning for me and I appreciate a teacher such as yourself, because they are rare!

Thank you both again!
